About
Rancho Murieta is a 3,500 acre, planned, gated community located only 25 miles, southeast of downtown Sacramento in the Sierra Foothills. Surrounded by heritage oaks, rolling hills, abundant wildlife, miles of meandering trails, the Cosumnes River, pristine reservoirs, and beautiful lakes, residents cherish the quiet, unique small-town country charm of Rancho Murieta. Rancho Murieta has five well-maintained community parks with updated play equipment, a spray park for children, an amphitheater, dog parks and outstanding sports fields. Some of our outdoor activity groups include Pickle Ball, Bocce Ball, tennis clubs, adult softball, and organized children’s sports programs for Little League, soccer, and lacrosse. Anglers enjoy catch-and-release fishing and Lake Clementia provides for water sports such as paddle boarding and swimming.
Rancho Murieta is home to the Rancho Murieta Country Club, featuring two 18-hole championship golf courses, six lighted tennis courts, and an array of activities, events, and services. Built along the scenic banks of the Cosumnes River, which winds throughout the community, golfers, hikers, and bikers enjoy the beautiful ever-changing river views from one of the last free-flowing rivers in California.
Rancho Murieta residents are treated to many community-wide events year around. Our very popular July 4th festivities begin with a fun run, a pancake breakfast hosted by the Kiwanis Club, and a lively and festive parade. The Optimist Club hosts a hot dog lunch, bounce houses, and fun for the kids in the afternoon. The day ends with music at the gazebo and a fabulous, highly attended fireworks display hosted by RMA.
Many local organizations and clubs sponsor other holiday and seasonal events, such as the holiday lights contest and tree lighting festivities, kid’s fishing day, and the very popular Summerfest, a huge two-day carnival and festival that raises money for local community projects. The Entertainment, Theater, and Culture (ETC) organization provides a full summer season of concerts at our beautiful amphitheater overlooking Lake Clementia as well as awarding scholarships and arts grants to our local schools.
Rancho Murieta is within the Elk Grove Unified School District and our children attend the award-winning Cosumnes River Elementary School, Albiani Middle School, and Pleasanton Grove High School. All three schools are ranked among the highest of academic schools in the state and provide a full range of academic services for all students in the K-12 grade levels.
Rancho Murieta has a variety of shopping opportunities available at the Murieta Plaza, near the North Gate, and neighboring ranches and farms provide produce year round. The newly constructed Murieta Inn and Spa provides 83 charmingly appointed rooms and suites, and is within walking distance of the Murieta Equestrian Center. One of the largest equestrian facilities in California, Murieta Equestrian Center is the premier destination for over 180,000 competitors and spectators annually. This gorgeous facility offers many exciting opportunities and experiences you can’t get anywhere else.
Rancho Murieta is also a popular gateway destination to the scenic vineyards and wineries of the Sierra foothills, with easy quaint visits to the rustic towns of Plymouth, Sutter Creek, and Jackson - just a short drive north of here.
Rancho Murieta is governed and serviced by several elected bodies, such as the Rancho Murieta Association (RMA), the main homeowners association; the Rancho Murieta Community Services District (RMCSD) that provides water, sewer, garbage, and security services; and several smaller associations.
Rancho Murieta has grown steadily over the past 25 years with an emphasis on preserving a unique quality of life. Enjoying an active lifestyle with abundant recreational opportunities for all ages in a safe and secure environment is important to families, retirees, and all residents alike. Preserving these special qualities remains the focus of RMA in all decisions and endeavors.
